After the Mediation

In a civil dispute, once you reach an agreement, nothing else needs to be done. In divorce cases, once your financial and custody decisions have been agreed upon, you have finalized all issues relating to your divorce and have your Settlement Agreement signed by both you and your spouse, you can file for your divorce in the courts.

Depending on backlogs in the court schedules, this last part of the process could take from a few weeks to a few months to complete.

Alternatively, if you are not ready and wish to wait before obtaining your divorce, Family & Divorce Mediator Estee Shiraz of Shiraz Media Group can assist you in discussing all relevant issues and have all your decisions included in a Legal Separation Agreement that you would both sign.

When you are ready to move on to that next step, you then can file for your divorce.
